Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) & BVLOS Rating (Beyond Visual Line of Sight)
Your First Step to Becoming a Certified Drone Pilot
The Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) is a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)-approved qualification required for operating drones (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) commercially in South Africa. This certificate ensures that remote pilots are trained in line with national aviation safety standards and are legally allowed to conduct drone operations under a Unmanned Aircraft System Operator Certificate (UASOC).
Our RPC Course Covers:
- Aviation Legislation and UAS Regulations
- Meteorology and Flight Planning
- Human Factors and Crew Resource Management
- Navigation and Airspace Awareness
- Principles of Flight and Aircraft Technical
- Practical Flight Training with Multi-Rotor and/or Fixed-Wing Drones
- Radio Telephony and English Language Proficiency (as required)
Upon successful completion of your RPC, you’ll be eligible to apply for licensing through the CAA and begin your career as a professional drone pilot.

The BVLOS Rating is an advanced endorsement to the RPC that authorises trained drone pilots to operate beyond their direct visual line of sight. This capability is crucial for long-range missions where constant visual contact with the drone is not feasible, such as in infrastructure inspections, drone security patrols, surveying large areas, or delivery operations.
